Branding and copy

This page is for marketers and campaign managers. It covers two campaign tabs: Branding, for how the game looks, and Copy & Translations, for what it says.

Organisation branding and campaign branding

Section titled “Organisation branding and campaign branding”

Branding works on two levels:

  • Organisation branding is your house style, used by every campaign. It is set through the API with PUT /v1/tenant/branding, using an API key that has the Change colours, logo and type permission. There is no screen for it in the dashboard.
  • Campaign branding is set on a campaign’s Branding tab. It overrides the organisation branding one field at a time.

Anything you leave blank on a campaign uses the organisation’s value. For example, set only Accent on a campaign and it keeps the organisation’s background, text colours, logo and font.

Custom branding is a plan feature. See Plans.

Open the campaign and choose 2. Branding. The form has five cards: Background, Position on a phone, Decorations, Colours, and Logo and type. The preview beside it shows your changes before you save.

Everything on this tab applies to every screen a player sees: the pre-game page, the game and the reward page.

Choose what players see behind the game. Only the settings for your choice are shown, and only your choice is saved. Each picker shows only files of its kind: images for an image, Lottie files for a Lottie, videos for a video.

Choice Settings
Colour One flat colour.
Gradient A blend from one colour to another, and its direction.
Image A picture from your media library, and the Colour behind the image, which shows through any transparent parts of a PNG.
Animation A Lottie animation or a video from your media library, plus a Still image.

For an image or an animation you also choose:

  • Fit: Cover fills the screen and may crop the edges, Contain shows the whole image with the colour around it, Tile repeats it three across the screen, which suits a small pattern.
  • Keep in view (with Cover): the part of the image that stays on screen when it is cropped. With Contain it is called Place the image and sets where the whole image sits. Not shown for Tile.
  • Tint the background: a colour laid over the art, with a strength of up to 80%. Use it when text is hard to read on a busy image.

When the game fills a screen, in your app or opened on a phone, these set where it sits. On a website the frame fits the game, so there is nothing to move.

  • Position: Top, Centre or Bottom. Centre is the default. Top suits quizzes, whose height changes from question to question.
  • Width: Game’s own, Wide (at least 560 pixels on larger screens) or Full width.

Artwork along the Top edge and Bottom edge, such as a garland or snow. For each edge, choose Image or Lottie, pick it from your media library, and set its Height: Small, Medium or Large. An image repeats along its edge. Decorations frame the game and never cover it.

Each colour takes a hex value such as #3b8ad9. Left blank, a colour uses the organisation’s default. The page background colour is set in Background.

Colour Used for
Text Main text.
Muted text Secondary text.
Accent Buttons and highlights.
Danger Warnings and errors.
Surface Cards and panels.
Border Lines and outlines.
  • Logo: shown above the game. Pick an image from your media library.
  • Font family: the font name as a CSS value, for example 'Inter', sans-serif.
  • Webfont stylesheet URL: a Google Fonts CSS address, or your own, for example https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?family=Inter. Without it, the font family only works if the player’s device already has that font.

The preview shows your unsaved changes straight away, with animations playing.

  • Screen: Pre-game, Game or Reward.
  • Shown: On a phone, where the position setting applies, or On a website.

Choose Save branding to save. Choose Save & preview on a phone to save and open the real pages in a phone-sized window, exactly as a player sees them. This counts as a test play, so it does not count towards limits, draws or rewards. If nothing opens, allow pop-ups for the dashboard.

Open the campaign and choose 3. Copy & Translations. The Wording players see card lists every piece of text in the game that you can change.

  • An empty field uses the game’s default wording, shown in grey inside the field.
  • Once you type something, the default appears under the field as Default: “…”, so you can always see what you replaced.
  • The badge at the top shows how many you changed, for example “3 of 10 changed”, or All defaults.

To translate a game, type your language’s wording into each field. To go back to the default, clear the field.

The preview beside the list shows your words in place. Choose Save copy.

If a game has no text you can change, the tab says This game has no overridable copy.

Custom copy is a plan feature. See Plans.
